High School Softball · Lady Horns Send Seniors Off with a Win

Lone Grove beat Duncan 5-3 on senior night Monday.

LG opened up scoring in the first inning, when Emmy Guthrie singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Duncan knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning, when Gibson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Lone Grove pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Riggs threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for LG, an error scored one run, and Shelby Stevenson grounded out, scoring one run.

Guthrie was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out 13 and walking one.

Riggs took the loss for Duncan. She went six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking one.

Lone Grove collected nine hits. Jordan JohnsonMaci McMurtrey, and Taleigh Nail all had multiple hits.

Cooper led Duncan with three hits in three at bats.
