The Lone Grove Lady Horns opened the season Tuesday with a pair of District wins over Madill. The Lady Horns prevailed in game one of the day with a 12-0 victory. Chloe Yeatts lead the way offensively going 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBIs. Noa Dodson was also 2 for 2 with and RBI and Paige Anderson was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Emmy Guthrie threw a complete game no-hitter, striking out 8 Lady Wildcats.
A six-run fourth inning led Lady Horns to an 11-1 victory in Game 2 Tuesday. Lady Horns big bats were led by Paige Anderson, Noa Dodson, and Logan Ketchum, all knocking in runs in the inning. Madill got things moving in the first inning. Tiernan hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first inning, Lady Horns tied things up at one when Emmy Guthrie singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Lady Horns pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Ketchum singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and Chloe Pender singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Lady Horns tallied six runs in the fourth inning. Anderson, Dodson, and Ketchum all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Ketchum was the winning pitcher for Lady Horns. She surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out two and walking zero. Lady Horns tallied 12 hits on the day. Guthrie, Ketchum, and Malea McMurtrey each collected multiple hits for Lady Horns. McMurtrey, Ketchum, and Guthrie each managed two hits to lead Lady Horns. Lady Horns was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
